Production description
Basalt Bluestone French Pattern combines square and rectangular tiles in a repeating modular layout. Its blue-grey tones and sawn 400-grit finish create a detailed paving surface with natural variation. Use the mixed-size arrangement to add interest to patios, courtyards and pathways while maintaining a coordinated, architectural look.
Natural basalt has individual mineral markings and changes in tone that become part of the finished design. Its restrained colour works particularly well with timber, concrete, render and planting. Blending pieces from several packs helps spread these characteristics evenly across the installation for a balanced overall appearance.
The French Pattern format combines several coordinated stone sizes rather than repeating a single tile. Plan the modular layout before installation and check the supplied sizes against your area. A considered setting-out plan helps maintain the pattern, balance perimeter cuts and make the most of the mixed-format design.
Natural stone benefits from an installation and maintenance system selected for the material and intended location. Confirm substrate preparation, drainage, jointing and sealing requirements with your installer. Use a cleaner suitable for the stone, clean spills promptly and avoid unapproved acidic or abrasive products. Request a sample to assess colour and texture before ordering; samples indicate the general appearance and cannot represent every piece in a complete delivery.

Installation
1. Set out the pattern
Inspect and blend the stone. Dry-lay a complete module using the supplied pattern and joint allowance before repeating it across the area.
2. Prepare the base
Use a stable base designed for the selected thickness and loads. Plan drainage falls outdoors and check finished levels against adjoining surfaces.
3. Bed every piece
Choose a stone-compatible adhesive or bedding system. Fully support every tile and adjust for natural thickness differences without exceeding the system limits.
4. Keep the layout consistent
Check module alignment regularly. Include the specified grout and movement joints, and test any pre-grout sealer for compatibility.
5. Clean, cure and seal
Let the adhesive and grout cure before use. Test a compatible stone sealer before applying, following its label. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acid washes.
