Production description

Basalt Bluestone Sawn Tiles feature deep grey tones, natural mineral markings and a clean sawn finish. Their understated appearance complements timber, render and concrete in patios, pathways and courtyards. Choose the available size and thickness to suit your installation, and coordinate with bluestone coping for a consistent outdoor palette.

Natural basalt has individual mineral markings and changes in tone that become part of the finished design. Its restrained colour works particularly well with timber, concrete, render and planting. Blending pieces from several packs helps spread these characteristics evenly across the installation for a balanced overall appearance.

Choose the available size and thickness to suit the layout and installation method. Larger pieces create fewer visible joints, while smaller formats can offer more flexibility around edges and changes in shape. Plan the setting-out lines, grout colour and perimeter cuts together to achieve a balanced finished surface.

Natural stone benefits from an installation and maintenance system selected for the material and intended location. Confirm substrate preparation, drainage, jointing and sealing requirements with your installer. Use a cleaner suitable for the stone, clean spills promptly and avoid unapproved acidic or abrasive products. Request a sample to assess colour and texture before ordering; samples indicate the general appearance and cannot represent every piece in a complete delivery.

1. Check and plan
Inspect the stone before laying. Blend pieces from several packs and dry-lay a small area to check colour, joints and cuts.

2. Prepare the base
Have your installer provide a sound, clean base suited to the stone thickness and expected loads. Outdoor areas need drainage falls; thin tiles require a supported bonded installation.

3. Lay with full support
Use a stone-compatible adhesive or bedding system. Support the whole underside, including edges and corners; avoid isolated blobs. Check coverage by lifting an occasional piece.

4. Joint and clean
Allow the specified joints and movement joints. Grout with a compatible product and clean residue promptly. Follow the chosen system for any pre-grout sealing.

5. Cure and seal
Let the adhesive and grout cure before use. Test a compatible stone sealer before applying, following its label. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acid washes.
